Network Facility Inventory Optimization
Source Loop’s Network Inventory/Optimization service provides an in-depth review and analysis of a carrier’s network on a serving area basis - typically a LATA or metro area. The following is the high level process that our analysts use to conduct these analyses:
- Network facility data from internal inventory systems, telco invoices, etc. is acquired, indexed and loaded into our databases
- Network configuration data (POPs, carrier interconnections, network elements, etc.) is then loaded into our databases
- A series of analyses are run on the data to determine potential network opportunities:
- Facility utilization is analyzed and candidates for facility grooming/packing are identified
- Leased facilities are analyzed and compared to acquisition/monthly costs for fiber facilities to determine potential for converting leased facilities to “on-net” facilities
- Inventory quantities of in-service facilities (i.e. local/access voice trunking) from network element management systems are compared to those quantities that are being invoiced
- Customer specific facilities are analyzed against billing inventories to identify stranded facilities that can be disconnected
