Christopher Lee, Founder/Managing Director
Mr. Lee is the Founder and Managing Director of Source Loop, a leading provider of telecommunications cost management services for enterprises and carriers. Mr. Lee has over 22 years of experience in various segments of the telecommunications industry concentrated in the areas of network cost management, corporate finance, network engineering and regulatory. Mr. Lee has personally served as an expert witness in five different litigations in various venues opining on subjects including traffic engineering, telco billing disputes, TEM software intellectual property issues and several regulatory matters. Mr. Lee has been published in several industry publications including RCR, Telephony, etc. and has been a featured speaker at several major industry trade shows.
Prior to starting Source Loop, Mr. Lee was a founding member of Broadmargin, subsequently renamed Control Point Solutions, after an acquisition. Mr. Lee started the Enterprise Services group at Broadmargin and was responsible for product development, service delivery, sourcing and professional services. Prior to starting the Enterprise Services group at Broadmargin, Mr. Lee ran the firm’s Business Planning & Analysis practice. In this role, Mr. Lee orchestrated numerous successful telecommunications cost optimization consulting projects serving some of the largest carriers in the world. Broadmargin grew to be the leader in the telecom expense management industry with over $8B of costs managed annually and was later sold to a private equity firm in 2003.
Prior to Broadmargin, Mr. Lee was a principal in The Waldron Group, a telecommunications industry consulting firm. While at the Waldron Group, Mr. Lee delivered multiple projects to clients in the long distance, local, internet and wireless segments of the telecommunications industry. The focus of these projects included due diligence support for M&A transactions, product development, cost management and network optimization.
Prior to joining The Waldron Group, Christopher served as Director, Corporate Finance, for Teleglobe Communications Corporation, a carrier’s carrier. His financial analysis and due diligence work supported acquisitions valued at over $4 billion, as well as investments in voice-over-data networks in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Additionally, Mr. Lee was responsible for analyzing and negotiating international termination agreements with providers in the Latin American, European and Asian markets
Prior to joining Teleglobe, Mr. Lee was the Director of Finance for Pocket Communications, a mobile wireless start-up. Through his efforts, Pocket was able to secure $175 million in private equity financing and $640 million in debt financing.
Prior to joining Pocket Communications, Mr. Lee worked for MCI Communications in various capacities related to access management, policy and billing operations.
In his role in the Access Policy Development group at MCI, Mr. Lee was responsible for performing complex network/traffic analyses that served as the analytical support for MCI’s Federal Regulatory group filings with the FCC and state commissions. In particular, Mr. Lee’s efforts went a long way in helping MCI benefit from the local transport restructure (“LTR”) and access charge reforms undertaken by the FCC in the mid-1990s.
Prior to working in the Access Policy group at MCI, Mr. Lee held the positions in Telco Cost and Traffic Engineering in MCI’s East Region Access Management group. In these positions, Mr. Lee was responsible for managing the interconnection of the MCI long distance network to the local exchange carrier’s networks from both a technical and financial perspective. Chris led a team that developed a network optimization software application that saved the company in excess of $100 million annually shortly after LTR was implemented.
Prior to joining MCI, Mr. Lee was Manager of Operations Finance for the CBS Broadcast Network. Under his direction, CBS implemented several successful cost containment programs resulting in significant cost reductions, especially in the area of telecommunications costs that made up the majority of the company’s non-labor costs.
Prior to CBS, Mr. Lee held the position of Sr. Financial Analyst within the Special Customer Arrangement (SCA) billing group at MCI. In this role, Mr. Lee was responsible for the development and implementation of custom billing applications and mediating billing disputes for Citibank, MCI’s largest business customer at the time.
Mr. Lee holds a BS degree in Finance from Old Dominion University and an MBA from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
